Proposition Improvements
- 25 employee activation key - on the 1st of November 2011 we introduced a 25 employee variant of Sage 50 Payroll (single company, single user) on an Annual Licence Plan. At the time of introducing this to the market, we used the existing in market Sage 50 Payroll 2011 product that did not have a 25 employee activation key. With Sage 50 Payroll v18 we have included a new 25 employee break that will be activated once a new key has been entered.
Usability Improvements
- Refreshed User Interface – With the recent successful launches of Sage 50 Accounts 2012 and Sage 50 HR v4, all versions of Sage 50 Payroll for the 2012/2013 tax year will adopt the subtle but great new user interface refresh to ensure a consistent usability experience moving forward. New Sage 50 Payroll has been given the fresh lick of paint it deserves giving it further longevity in the market place.
- Support Home Page – when a customer contacts Sage for help and support, a lot of the information a technician needs to problem solve is disparately spread in different locations in the Sage 50 HR. With Sage 50 Payroll we have delivered the Support Home Page which pulls together all the customers data relating to their software which will improve the way we support our customers… driving efficient and effective customer support.
- Introducing all CSV templates to standard payroll – in previous versions of Sage 50 Payroll there have been differences as to what customers were able to import and export between standard and professional variants. With Sage 50 Payroll we have included all the CSV import/export templates to both the standard and professional variants ensuring a consistent user experience.
Electronic Delivery of PAYE Update
- Electronic delivery of PYE updates (all 2012/2013 tax year versions) – we can now enable the ability to deliver a full program update and payroll year end pack electronically to our customers. With Sage 50 Payroll we have the ability to deliver a full product update including legislative changes and new features electronically to our customers using the Auto-Updates Feature.
New Sage 50 Payroll for the tax year 2012/2013 – Future Legislative Compliance
Over the next 12 to 24 months there are two pieces of significant legislative reform impacting the way employers pay their employees. These two legislative reforms in the form of PAYE Real Time Information and Workplace Pension Reforms require significant development and testing time and resource to ensure our customers on-going compliance.
Moving to one annual release that combines both legislative changes and new features will provide us with more time and resource to develop and test the next version of Sage 50 Payroll. This year we are having to balance the time constraints to deliver new features as well as ensuring legislative compliance for the 2012/2013 tax year and our readiness for PAYE Real Time Information (RTI) pilot which is due to commence in April 2012.
Real Time Information or RTI is a new system aimed at improving the operation of Pay As You Earn (PAYE) which will collect information from employers more often and more efficiently. It will be mandatory for large employers (more than 250 employees) from April 2013 and compulsory for all employers from October 2013.
PAYE Real Time Information Pilot Preparation (all 2012/2013 tax year
Workplace Pension Reform Preparation – from October 2012 Employers must provide a Qualifying Pension Scheme and opt all eligible employees into their scheme whilst also making a minimum Employers pension contribution (employees have 3 months to choose to opt out). These changes will be phased in from large to medium sized companies first with small and micro companies starting from May 2015 with complete mandate by October 2016.
